Introduction
BasiGo Rwanda has secured a significant funding boost of RWF 300 million (USD 225,000) from Ireme Invest, the green investment facility of the Rwanda Green Fund. This financial support will be instrumental in upgrading BasiGo's charging infrastructure, necessary for its expanding fleet of electric public transport buses in Kigali.
Enhancing Charging Infrastructure
The allocated funds will be utilized to establish a state-of-the-art charging station capable of supporting at least 20 electric buses (E-Buses) overnight. This development is crucial for sustaining BasiGo’s growing operations and ensuring the seamless integration of electric buses into Kigali's public transportation network.
Innovative Financing Model
BasiGo offers cutting-edge electric buses along with comprehensive charging and maintenance services. The company’s unique financing model separates the cost of the bus from the battery and charging expenses. This pay-as-you-go arrangement makes electric buses more affordable for operators, who can pay for the battery and charging as they use the vehicle.
Affordable Electric Buses
Through BasiGo's pay-as-you-drive financing model, bus operators can acquire electric buses without bearing the burden of high upfront costs. This innovative approach enables operators to gradually pay for the vehicle, making the transition to electric public transport more financially feasible and attractive.
