Introduction to "Let’s Build, Africa"

As the continent celebrated Africa Day on Saturday 25th May 2024, Co-creation Hub (CcHub) announced the launch of “Let’s Build, Africa,” an innovative market entry program designed to empower African startups to expand their horizons and enter new markets within the continent. “Let’s Build, Africa” is a strategic initiative aimed at supporting startups poised for cross-border growth but needing strategic insights and support to navigate new ecosystems. This program underscores CcHub's commitment to fostering economic integration and innovation across Africa.

Vision Behind the Initiative

Ojoma Ochai, MD of CcHub Africa, shared the vision behind the program:

“We are thrilled to launch ‘Let’s Build, Africa’ on Africa Day, a day that symbolizes unity and progress for our continent. With 'Let’s Build, Africa,' startups will be empowered with the tools and connections needed to thrive across Africa. We believe that by facilitating cross-border growth, we can significantly contribute to Africa’s economic integration and innovation landscape.”

Program Objectives

The program aims to support startups in gaining insights and access to new markets across Africa, helping them navigate new ecosystems effectively.

“Let’s Build, Africa” seeks to foster collaboration and investment opportunities between startups and local stakeholders in target markets. By facilitating easier market access for innovative businesses, the program aims to contribute to the economic integration of the African continent.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, startups must meet the following criteria:

- The startup must be registered in an African country.

- At least one of the founders must be an African national.

- The startup should be at the scale-up stage.

Program Components

Startups are invited to apply for the program, focusing on their readiness for market expansion and innovative solutions adaptable to diverse markets.

Selected startups will participate in pitch events to refine their business models and receive valuable feedback.

Participating startups will undergo facilitated tours in key markets such as Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, and Namibia to gain firsthand experience and insights.

Product Showcases

Startups will showcase their products to a curated audience of collaborators, investors, and potential customers. Over a six-month period, startups will receive ongoing support from CcHub’s team of experts to build and strengthen market linkages.

Impact of the Program

By the end of the program, startups will have made substantial progress in entering new markets, forging valuable partnerships, and positioning themselves for investment and growth. This initiative is expected to significantly impact fostering intra-African trade and collaboration, driving economic growth, and promoting innovation across the continent.
