Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), in collaboration with the African Development Bank, has concluded a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and startups across Egypt. This program has significantly enhanced the capabilities of budding entrepreneurs and startups, fostering a culture of innovation and growth throughout the country.

Empowering Entrepreneurs Across Egypt

Under the banner of the "Your Idea, Your Company" center, funded by the African Development Bank, GAFI organized workshops and awareness sessions reaching nearly 600 entrepreneurs and youth across 17 governorates over the course of a year. These sessions provided valuable insights into government policies supporting entrepreneurship and facilitated connections among stakeholders involved in startup initiatives. Additionally, leading consulting firms offered essential services such as financial, tax, administrative, and technological consultancy to 130 startups and entrepreneurs.

Key Figures Acknowledge Success

At the closing ceremony, key figures including Hossam Heiba, CEO of GAFI; Dalia El-Hawary, Deputy CEO of GAFI; and Jehan El-Sukkary, Senior Socioeconomic Expert at the African Development Bank in Egypt, commended the program's achievements. They highlighted the pivotal role of GAFI in nurturing an entrepreneurial culture and praised recent government efforts to support startups, including the establishment of a dedicated unit within the Cabinet and the launch of electronic registration services.

Collaborative Efforts for Economic Development

Jehan El-Sukkary emphasized the program's alignment with the African Development Bank's strategy, focusing on youth employment and business environment enhancement. The collaboration between the African Development Bank and GAFI has played a crucial role in supporting Egypt's investment landscape.

Commitment to Entrepreneurial Support

Dalia El-Hawary reaffirmed GAFI's commitment to implementing supportive policies for entrepreneurship, streamlining procedures, and eliminating bureaucracy. Ahmed Zuhair, the Executive Director responsible for the program, highlighted the importance of robust support networks for entrepreneurship activities to achieve sustainable development.

Recognizing Excellence and Innovation

The Central Administration for Entrepreneurship, spearheading the initiative, received the Innovation and Creativity Award in the Egypt Government Excellence Competition for the year 2020. This recognition underscores the administration's dedication to fostering innovation and creativity within Egypt's entrepreneurial landscape.

Acknowledging Dedication

Following the program's success, Dalia El-Hawary and Jehan El-Sukkary presented certificates of appreciation to the program's staff, recognizing their unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements in fulfilling the program's objectives.
