Championing Sustainable Food Solutions through Innovation

Foodpreneurs Hub, a Nigerian-based foodtech platform, has successfully raised $500,000 in pre-seed funding to advance its mission of combating food insecurity across Africa. Although the identities of the investors remain undisclosed, this financial injection marks a pivotal moment for the company as it scales its efforts in addressing food wastage and promoting sustainable food systems on the continent.

Addressing Food Wastage through Entrepreneurship

Africa faces a critical challenge with over 40% of food lost post-harvest, a significant contributor to food insecurity. Co-founded by CEO Olushola Oladejo and COO Yosola Oke, Foodpreneurs Hub is dedicated to empowering food entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to tackle this issue. The platform offers a range of support services, including training, mentorship, and facilitating key partnerships to help food businesses thrive.

A Platform for African Food Innovators

At the core of Foodpreneurs Hub’s mission is the belief that food processing entrepreneurship holds the key to mitigating food loss and enhancing food security. The company serves as an all-inclusive platform for African food innovators, offering guidance in areas such as product development, business strategy, and market analysis. One of its flagship initiatives, the “FoodStars Business Scale-Up” program, provides a six-week mentorship scheme where entrepreneurs can present their projects and compete for funding awards of up to $1,000.

Building on Previous Milestones

This recent funding success adds to the company’s growing momentum. In May 2024, Foodpreneurs Hub received $5 million in investment from Fusen Funds, an initiative led by American billionaire Chris Klaus. This previous round of funding was aimed at scaling up the company’s efforts to support food entrepreneurs in navigating the practical challenges they face within the industry.

Empowering the Next Generation of Food Innovators

Foodpreneurs Hub is committed to addressing the root causes of food insecurity by fostering a new generation of food innovators. CEO Olushola Oladejo highlights the company's comprehensive approach, stating, "We are not just addressing the symptoms of food insecurity; we are tackling its root causes by empowering food entrepreneurs to drive sustainable change."

A Vision for a Food-Secure Africa

With this fresh round of pre-seed funding, Foodpreneurs Hub is well-positioned to expand its impact across Africa. The startup remains steadfast in its mission to support entrepreneurship, promote sustainable food practices, and ultimately contribute to building a food-secure future for the continent.
