Introduction

The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST Africa), in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy, has announced the launch of the 6th edition of the MEST Africa Challenge (MAC). This year’s challenge is dedicated to identifying and supporting exceptional AgriTech entrepreneurs who are tackling critical agricultural challenges in West Africa.

Bridging the Gap in AgriTech Innovation

In the rapidly advancing world of AgriTech, innovation requires the right environment to thrive. While many African entrepreneurs have bold and transformative ideas, they often encounter significant barriers in accessing the resources and networks necessary to bring these ideas to life. MAC 2024 aims to bridge this gap by offering startups the opportunity to “Find Their Soil,” providing vital support, funding, and mentorship to ensure their visions take root and flourish.

A Call to Action: 'Find Your Soil'

“‘Find Your Soil’ is a rallying cry for AgriTech innovators to discover the optimal environment for their ideas to grow,” said Ashwin Ravichandran, Portfolio Advisor at MEST Africa. “Through the MEST Africa Challenge, we are committed to nurturing this ecosystem by providing the resources, visibility, and strategic support that these entrepreneurs need to thrive.”

MEST Africa’s Commitment to Entrepreneurship

MEST Africa is dedicated to driving job creation and economic growth across the continent through software entrepreneurship. By offering specialized tech entrepreneurial training and investment opportunities, MEST empowers Africa’s brightest minds to build and scale impactful businesses. The 2024 edition of the MEST Africa Challenge, with a focus on the AgriTech sector, opens the door for startups in key West African markets to gain the support they need to succeed.

The MEST Africa Challenge 2024 is open to AgriTech startups from several West African countries, including Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Mali, and Togo.
