Introduction
In a major boost for the South African startup ecosystem, three innovative ventures have been chosen for the inaugural JICA NINJA Accelerator in South Africa. The program, designed to fast-track promising startups, is part of the Open Innovation Edition, run in collaboration with Startupbootcamp AfriTech. The initiative focuses on accelerating the testing of strategic solutions with potential commercial partners like NEC XON, a subsidiary of the global NEC Corporation.
Startups to Receive Strategic Support and Global Exposure
The selected startups—Raphta, Agrilogiq, and Locstat—will participate in pilots and proof-of-concept projects with NEC XON, receiving expert mentorship along the way. The program also offers access to a global network of experts, including opportunities for the startups to connect with potential investors and strategic partners. This is not limited to South Africa, as these companies will also engage with international stakeholders, particularly in Japan, during a one-week roadshow scheduled for January 2025.
Raphta: Transforming Infrastructure Security
One of the selected ventures, Raphta, has developed a cutting-edge autonomous software and hardware platform. This solution is focused on securing, monitoring, and inspecting critical infrastructure in key industries like telecommunications, energy, railways, and water. By leveraging advanced technology, Raphta addresses some of the most pressing infrastructure challenges in Africa, making them an ideal candidate for NEC XON’s commercial testing.
Agrilogiq: Connecting Growers with Smart Greenhouse Solutions
Agrilogiq, another startup chosen for the NINJA Accelerator, brings innovative solutions to the agricultural sector. The company has created advanced software and hardware that enable growers to seamlessly connect with their greenhouses. By integrating technology with agriculture, Agrilogiq helps farmers optimize their operations, offering a more efficient and scalable approach to modern farming.
Locstat: Pioneering Next-Generation Data Intelligence
Completing the trio is Locstat, a startup focused on using AI and data analytics to empower organizations. Its AI technology platform utilizes graph-based AI and advanced data analytics to offer real-time monitoring and intelligence solutions. Locstat’s platform helps businesses across various industries rapidly scale their data intelligence capabilities, positioning the company as a key player in the future of AI-driven innovation.
Accelerating Innovation Through Global Partnerships
The NINJA Accelerator represents a unique opportunity for these startups to scale and innovate beyond borders. The program, supported by NEC XON, provides invaluable commercial testing, access to global markets, and strategic resources. This initiative not only strengthens the South African innovation landscape but also fosters deeper collaboration between African and Japanese ecosystems.
