In a significant boost for innovation in Kenya, five startups have been awarded a total of Sh81 million through TRANSFORM, an impact accelerator supported by Unilever, the British High Commission (BHC), and EY. This initiative aims to foster social and environmental impact by supporting pioneering enterprises in Kenya.
Selected Startups Making Waves
The selected startups are making strides in addressing critical issues through innovative solutions:
- Gwiji: This platform connects cleaners with job opportunities through a digital interface, streamlining the process of hiring and job placement.
- Novek: Focused on eliminating single-use plastics, Novek is working towards sustainable alternatives to reduce environmental pollution.
- Syna Consultancy: This company develops portable toilets, providing essential sanitation solutions in underserved areas.
- Ecobora: Aiming to enhance rural living conditions, Ecobora plans to install solar-powered cooking boilers in remote areas.
- Association of Green Champions: This organization seeks to improve the livelihoods of gum Arabic sellers and harvesters, promoting sustainable agriculture.
These startups were chosen from a competitive pool of 1,500 applicants, highlighting their potential for creating positive social and environmental change.

The TRANSFORM program offers more than just financial support. The grantees will benefit from:
