Introduction
African insurtech startups are being presented with an exciting opportunity to scale their operations and access significant funding through the ZEP-RE InsurTech Programme 2.0. This initiative, developed by the reinsurance company ZEP-RE in partnership with Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali, is designed to support and accelerate the growth of innovative insurtech ventures across the continent.
Programme Overview
The ZEP-RE InsurTech Programme 2.0 is a comprehensive, three-month hybrid acceleration programme that will see 25 selected startups gain valuable insights, mentorship, and exposure to industry experts. The programme is structured to enhance the startups' investment readiness, culminating in a high-stakes pitch competition.
Investment Readiness Bootcamp
As part of the programme, the participating startups will be invited to an all-expenses-paid trip to Kigali, Rwanda, for an intensive investment readiness bootcamp. This bootcamp will provide the startups with the tools and knowledge they need to refine their business models, strengthen their value propositions, and prepare for potential investment.
Pitch Competition and Funding Opportunities
The programme will conclude with a pitch competition where the top 10 startups will present their solutions to a panel of judges. Out of these, the top five startups will be eligible for investment from the ZEP-RE Insurtech Fund, with potential funding ranging from US$100,000 to US$1 million per startup. This substantial investment could be a game-changer for these startups, providing them with the resources needed to scale and innovate further.
