African startups are invited to participate in the Innovate2PREVENT Innovation Contest, an exciting opportunity to inspire and mobilize creative minds worldwide. This contest aims to develop innovative, inclusive, and data-driven circular business approaches that contribute to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The Innovate2PREVENT programme is implemented by Yunus Environment Hub on behalf of the PREVENT Waste Alliance. The program provides a platform for innovators, environmentalists, and forward thinkers to showcase their solutions for a circular economy, focusing on priority countries of the German Development Cooperation while adhering to just transition principles.

Contest Objectives

The Innovate2PREVENT Innovation Contest seeks three types of solutions:

  1. Extending Product Lifetime: Innovations that contribute to extending the lifetime of products, closing resource loops, or optimizing resource efficiency through reuse, refurbishment, or repair of electrical and electronic equipment.
  2. Reducing Single-Use Plastics: Solutions within the plastics value chain aimed at phasing down single-use plastics.
  3. Integrating Digital Solutions: Approaches that integrate digital solutions and interoperable data models across product life cycle stages and value chains, contributing to a circular economy.
