With Africa's food industry facing mounting challenges in climate resilience, food security, and nutrition, the need for groundbreaking initiatives has never been more pressing.
Nurturing Emerging Talent
Young entrepreneurs, aged 35 or below, are invited to participate, provided they are legally recognised as adults in their country of nationality. The competition seeks individuals who play an active role as the founder/co-founder of their venture and demonstrate a commitment to its operations and leadership.
The Venture
Ventures must be legally registered in a member country of the African Union or in the process of registration by 1 July 2024. Additionally, ventures should be headquartered within the African Union and designed to achieve financial sustainability, whether as for-profit businesses or revenue-generating non-profits.
Driving Impactful Innovation
The competition welcomes ventures operating across various segments of the agrifood sector, including research & development, primary food production, mechanisation, food processing, digital solutions, renewable energy, and more. Emphasising innovation and process improvement, the competition seeks ventures that contribute to the development and advancement of Africa's agrifood landscape.
Celebrating Excellence
Two winners will each receive a grand prize of $50,000, totalling $100,000 in prizes. The competition also features Impact Awards, honouring ventures making significant contributions to improving rural livelihoods, nutrition, climate resilience, gender impact, and more.
Opportunities for Growth
In addition to cash prizes, top finalists will benefit from facilitated participation at the Agribusiness Deal Room and an invitation to the 2025 GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program. This exclusive program offers personalised support, coaching, and networking opportunities, empowering emerging leaders to further develop themselves and their ventures.
Showcasing Innovation: The Road Ahead
Selected entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses at the GoGettaz Finals during the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit in Kigali, Rwanda. This prestigious platform provides exposure to potential investors, partners, and collaborators, fostering growth and collaboration within Africa's agrifood ecosystem.
As the competition unfolds, the GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition 2024 aims to not only celebrate innovation but also catalyse transformative change across Africa's agrifood sector.
