Established in 2019, the Mukwaya Robert Foundation Africa Limited aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of orphaned, semi-orphaned, disabled, youth, and street children across Uganda. With a spirited team of 10 employees, the organization is committed to fostering a brighter future for those in need.
Can you provide a brief overview of your organization's mission, vision, and core values?
The Mukwaya Robert Foundation Africa is committed to extending care and support to orphaned, semi-orphaned, disabled, youth, and street children across Uganda. Our vision is to empower these vulnerable individuals to craft a brighter future. At our core, we value empathy, dedication, and the building of strong community bonds.
What inspired you to embark on this noble journey, and how did you come up with the idea for your organization?
My inspiration stems from a transformative encounter during my youth. I was fortunate to receive help from compassionate Christians who offered me food and medical aid on the streets of Kampala. Later, a Christian family in Mityana took me in despite their modest means. However, it was a heartbreaking incident – discovering a girl discarded like trash – that truly ignited my passion. Though unable to help immediately, the experience led me to establish the foundation with the goal of providing care and protection to vulnerable children.
What sets your organization apart from others?
What distinguishes us is our unwavering commitment to a family-based approach in caring for children. We prioritize community support and education to ensure families remain intact and thrive together.
Could you share some notable achievements or milestones your organization has accomplished since its inception?
Certainly. Despite being a relatively young Ugandan NGO, we've achieved impactful outcomes. We've trained and supported over 1000 community volunteers to respond effectively to families in crisis, ensuring children's safety. We've also successfully transitioned 300 children into loving families and community-based alternatives, affording them a better childhood.
How do you sustain the operations of your organization?
We sustain our operations through volunteer programs that align with our mission and values. Through our efforts, we've witnessed transformed lives. Children who were once overlooked now thrive within supportive communities, experiencing the promise of a brighter future.
